Identifying quality and
compliance issues

Shelton Management Group’s experienced inspectors help identify products and shipments which may contain nonstandard or noncompliant components and materials. The ISO 2859 standard defines an inspection as an “activity such as measuring, examining, testing or gauging one or more characteristics of a product or service, and comparing the results with specified requirements in order to establish whether conformity is achieved for each characteristic.”

With a “packed product” ready for shipment (i.e. in a closed export carton with full shipping marks), inspectors typically accept up to 20 percent of unpacked products per reference so as to not delay a shipment. During inspection, the conformity of the products is checked against a list of criteria defined by the buyer, such as product quantity, workmanship, function, safety, aspect, size and packing style. If something isn’t right, we can often correct the situation in a timely, efficient manner.
